Last weekend the time had finally come: Our first yoga retreat took place at the Eco Lodge Fuchsegg in the Bregenzerwald.
About a year ago we started planning our first yogapeople retreat. And we weren't too early! Quite a few hotels and resorts in question were fully booked for up to two years. In the end we were very lucky when the Eco Lodge Fuchsegg sent us an offer in response to our request.
At the end of September the time had finally come! With bright autumn sunshine and late summer temperatures of 22-26° C during the day, the eight retreat participants and Ed and I gathered in the light-flooded yoga room. Everyone arrived safely, whether by car or public transport: the Eco Lodge Fuchsegg can be easily reached from Winterthur in about 1 hour 40 minutes.
The welcome-session with journaling and yoga on Friday was followed by a relaxed three-course dinner, where the group soon felt like one big family. We had arrived!
Good mood everywhere!
I would like to claim that the morning highlight on Saturday (and Sunday) was the yoga class, but unfortunately that would be a lie: the breakfast buffet at the Eco Lodge Fuchsegg is second to none! Without exaggerating, it is one of the tastiest and most tempting breakfast buffets we have ever experienced: from freshly baked little cakes, pancakes, braids to scrambled eggs with bacon, fresh figs and strawberries, a cheese plate and vegetable pans, there was everything and more. Everyone diligently loaded themselves one generous plate after the other. Everything was freshly prepared in the kitchen from organic and regional ingredients. Unfortunately we didn't take any photos of the buffet: we were too busy eating ;)
Some passed the time before yoga on Saturday afternoon with an eBike tour, others with reading or a cozy aperitif and conversation in the sun.
Playtime was the order of the day in the yoga class from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.! In pairs, the participants came up with their own sun salutation sequences or experimented with asanas as they pleased. There was then an introduction to the “art and magic of the backbend”.
The rest of Saturday was just relaxation: massages, sauna, bathing, walking, reading, chatting, eating... The pure weekend escape to switch off! In hindsight we have to admit: the weekend didn't have enough days. We all could have kept going for another day or two. When we said goodbye on Sunday after brunch, it felt like we had made new friends, even if we might not see each other again until the next Weekend Escape ;)
Thank you very much to everyone who was there! We had a lot of fun and are sure we will be back with another retreat - stay tuned! ;)
